Different Measures of Success and Benefits in a Business

Success is measured differently according to the standards of each individuals interpretation of success. The way that you might interpret the different measures of success may be different from how your audience or customers interpret success. In a service-based business, you have to modify your offering to meet the needs of your customers. This can be challenging if there is any miscommunication between you and your customers about the service that you’re offering. If you always make sure that the needs of your customers are met with satisfaction, then you will succeed.

Different Roles in an Organization

“The true measure of your worth included all the benefits others have gained from your success.” ~Cullen Hightower

One big mistake we often make is that we measure others by our own standards of success. We incorrectly assumed that other people want to make $1,000,000 or climb the runs of the corporate ladder. Instead, we should learn to listen and to modify our offering to be in line with the needs and wants of others.

This principle applies to other situations besides business.  In all social and group dynamics, there are different rules and functions which are performed by a variety of people. Each function is necessary for accomplishing the goals of the organization.

For example, Churches have different roles that are required in order to serve the congregation. A big role may include being a Pastor, whose responsibility is to preach and Minister within the congregation. There are also members that attend for personal reasons, such as to make friends or bring themselves closer to God.

Working as a Team Leads to Success

In order for any organization to be successful, each member must play their part. Although each individual may have a different goal, there needs to be a shared benefit within the organization. Together, each individual person can experience and gain the same success in the business.

If we want to be more successful in business and our relationships, we must recognize the different motivations people have for joining and staying within groups. Not everyone has the same measures of success or benefits by the same standard. Instead, we must learn to listen and to change the way we present. It is crucial to serve customers, employees and the community in a way that is beneficial to our success.
